Happy Thanksgiving from Leap Forward Coaching!

Posted on by leapforward

One of the great joys of Thanksgiving is the opportunity to spend time with friends and family. But the tension that sometimes accompanies the holidays can irritate old wounds or create new ones. This Thanksgiving, and throughout the holiday season, to experience more joy and connection, I encourage you to practice forgiveness.

While letting go of the past can be difficult, it also brings incredible freedom and peace. Try a few of these practical ways to forgive:

  • Focus on the power of forgiveness. Forgiveness frees you of anxiety, bitterness, tension, and fear, while reducing stress and restoring relationships.
  • Choose forgiveness. Reconciliation won’t happen on its own … you must choose to let go of negativity to move forward.
  • Take control. You can’t change the past but you can impact the future. You are in control of your reactions and feelings … exercise your internal strength!
  • Make a fresh start. Try mentally restarting your relationship with your family member or friend. On that clean slate, resolve to write a new story.
  • Ask for forgiveness. While you’re taking stock of your relationships, assess whether you’ve caused pain or irritation to someone else and ask to be forgiven.
  • With heartfelt thanks to my clients, family, and friends,

    Melanie Ott
